The types of EQ and main controls

This section covers all the main parameters of EQ and gives you a good foundation on which to understand the various topics covered throughout the course, .

Introduction to the following topics:

  • Bell, shelfs, high and low pass filters
  • Q, slope and what effect they have
  • High and Low pass filters and phase
  • Other filters and EQ types
  • Linear phase vs analog and minimum phase

Dynamic EQ and Multiband

You will learn all the essential functions and parameters of dynamic EQ and multi-band EQ how they can be used to fix a multitude of problems in a mix as well as enhance the sounds of instruments.

We look in detail at dynamic and multiband EQ:

Speacialist EQ and saturation

You will learn how frequency specific saturation can be used to do anything from adding weight and density to a kick drum to adding silky top end to cymbals.

Transient and sustain EQs
